Do you and your partner want to customize your wedding day with a unity ceremony? I have seen so many great unity ceremony ideas that my clients have chosen for their weddings. One I particularly like for couples in Arizona and New Mexico is the rock cairn.
The rock cairn, which stems from Nordic ancestry, is a stack of balanced stones (forming a visible stack from afar) that was used to mark trails and to help travelers navigate a safe path on their journey.
This ancient practice can also symbolize unity within a wedding ceremony showing strength, balance, and a good sense of direction on your path.
How to Create A Rock Cairn During Your Wedding Ceremony
A rock cairn is easy to create. Selecting your rocks on a hike or a favorite vacation spot is a nice way to create memories as you collect the materials! The good news is rocks are easy to find — and most likely very affordable — or free! Chose anywhere from 5-8 rocks and you should have a nice rock cairn display!
You can include family members such as children from both partners in the ceremony to create the union of a blended family. Also consider asking your wedding officiant to bless the stones as the family or the couple stacks them for a sacred moment.
