Create a Wedding Day Time Capsule

It might seem like the actual day of your wedding passes in a blink of an eye. Some of my couples have decided to create a wedding day time capsule as a keepsake! It’s such a fun way to preserve the special details and relive your wedding day years down the road into your marriage.

During the ceremony, you and your partner can place the chosen wedding time capsule items in a container and seal it. You both decide on a date – whether it’s your 1st, 5th, or 10th wedding anniversary, to reopen it together! You can include a mini vow reciting on the anniversary that you choose to open your time capsule. I love this gesture to keep your love alive, possibly rewriting new vows each year as you grow together and serving as reminder for why you got married.

Some ideas on how to fill your time capsule
  • wedding photos/ polaroids
  • groom’s tie
  • bride’s dried bouquet or wedding flowers
  • wedding party favors and invitation
  • favorite bottle of wine
  • handwritten notes to each other
  • bucket list checklist
  • couple handprints
  • wedding guest book
  • wedding cake topper
  • goals for marriage
  • list of songs from wedding

A time capsule is versatile and can be used in a private elopement or at a larger wedding with family and friends who can add items to the capsule over the course of the night.

This lovely couple included a time capsule at their destination elopement at Horseshoe Bend, AZ. They included their favorite wine and personalized his and hers vow books. They were very excited to share this experience over a glass of wine in the future!
